Medcinal Uses and Benefits of Agrimony

Agrimony can be found growing throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. It is a hardy perennial, its
natural habitat is wooded areas and fields, but it can grow in other areas just as well. A member of the rose
family. It is not commonly used today, but has its place in traditional herbal medicine.

It has been specifically used for all digestive disorders and for strengthening the stomach, intestines, liver,
gallbladder and kidneys. Use a strong decoction of root and leaves to treat pimples, skin blotches and ulcers.
Drink a tea made from the leaves to treat jaundice and other liver problems. You can also use the tea for
inflammatory diseases. Combine Agrimony with Mullein or Slippery Elm in boiling water to create a feminine
cleansing solution, but let it cool down to room temperature before using. Create a poultice and apply to
athlete’s foot, sores, wounds and insect bites. By creating a tincture one can apply it to the skin to help draw
out pesky thorns and splinters.

Remember as with any health condition always consult your doctor.

Heavy Menstrual Bleeding – drink a cup of tea 3 times a day to ease heavy menstrual bleeding

UTI and Cystitis – Very astringent herb, drink a cup of tea 3 times a day to help clear up UTI, bladder
infections and sever cystitis.

Muscular Stiffness – Combine Agrimony, Mugwort and vinegar, massage into the stiff muscles to help relax
them.

Liver and Skin - A mild astringent and tonic, useful in coughs, diarrhea and relaxed bowels..Agrimony is also
considered a very useful agent in skin eruptions and diseases of the blood, pimples, blotches, etc.

Parasitic and Other Infections – Because it contains the chemical compound agrimophol, which expels
parasites. Agrimophol causes parasites to lose their hold on the lining of the bladder or intestine so that they
are evacuated with urine or stool. This substance also kills the organism that causes river blindness, a
tropical disease in which parasites infest the eye, and many common bacteria, including Escherichia coli (E.
coli) and Staphylococcus bacteria, as well as the bacteria that cause dysentery and typhoid fever.

Possible Side Effects: Considered safe and non-toxic. There are, however, a number of conditions that
result from attacks on healthy tissues by B cells because of defects in their genetic programming. For that
reason, people with rheumatoid arthritis, myasthenia gravis, Graves' disease, Hashi-moto's thyroiditis, lupus,
Sjogren's syndrome, or any other autoimmune disease may want to avoid agrimony if it seems to cause flare-
ups. So, again please consult a doctor before treating yourself.
